Stress & Type:

Discover why people sometimes move out of character in response to fatigue and stress. Using the language of Type, we say that people are "in the grip".  Everyone experiences this response to stress at some time in their life. Learning that grip experiences are healthy and adaptive will enable you to manage them as temporary episodes from which we can benefit.

WHAT IS TYPE?
Personality type is a theory to explain the differences in people's behavior. Carl Jung observed that people gain energy from the either the physical world from their mind. People also preferred to gather information differently, either using their physical senses or their mental models. And people make decisions differently, by logical thinking or emotional feeling.

Katharine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers added an observation that people deal with the outer world either by driving towards closure and order or by driving towards spontaneity and flexibility.

Myers and Briggs also constructed the MBTI® instrument which assigns a letter to each of the eight preferences above. The assessment offers a e a four letter code to help make it easier for people to understand and learn more about differences in behavior.

There are 16 possible four letter codes. Each code is what we call 'type'.
